Taking into consideration the main goal of the RRPP programme, in the last phase of its implementation, a need to conduct a special “current state” analysis of research work, in the area of education and scientific research in social sciences has arisen, with a special accent on:

  1. The general overview of the situation and problems in the area of scientific research in BiH,
  2. An overview of the strategies and developmental policies of scientific research in the social sciences in BiH,
  3. Recommendations - where possible options for policy changes are offered, as a response to the main problems in the area of scientific research in social sciences.

During the development of the recommendations, special care was taken of current recommendations and conclusion from the RRPP National conference on the position and status of social sciences in BiH, which was held in BiH in March of 2011, in Sarajevo, where representatives of universities and faculties in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Academy of science and art of BiH, the academy of science and art of RS, the entity and canton ministries and the Ministry of civil affairs BiH, as well as the representatives of the Swiss Embassy in BiH, the Swiss agency for development and cooperation (SDC) and the University of Fribourg – RRPP Switzerland, have participated. For the needs of this particular study, we have used the following methodological tools:

  1. Researching secondary and tertiary data – analysis of available documents, above all, laws, reports, strategies and similar.
  2. Interviews with the relevant actors (representatives of ministries, universities, faculties, research institutions, researchers etc.)

The fruit of this research, within the framework of the RRPP programme, has been published in the form of a study “Research in the Field of Social Sciences in Bosnia and Herzegovina” (available HERE), as well as the eponymous policy brief (available HERE).

More publications and content published within the RRPP programme can be found on the official web site of RRPP: http://rrpp-westernbalkans.net/en/library.html
