Social Sciences and Research in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Between (Lack of) Financing and (Lack of) Quality

The current state of financial support for social sciences in Bosnia and Herzegovina is insufficient, and varies significantly from year to year. Compared to the investment in other sciences in Bosnia and Herzegovina, social sciences are doing relatively poorly. There are also many indicators that the current economic crisis in the country adds to the lack of social science funding, which can have long-term negative effects for the discipline and for society as a whole. Although the relevant statistical indicators for the analysis of investment in the social sciences are hard to come by, an analysis of them indicates the necessity of increasing funding, as well as introducing policies to tie together funding with quality in the social science sector.
